A person in a digital marketing Account Executive job will normally have around 2 years experience in the account management industry, helping to manage advertising campaigns on behalf of clients in an advertising agency environment. They will have been promoted from the entry-level Account Assistant position and begin to have more responsibilities for campaign and client management. As well as managing the campaigns, they will help compile and analyse results of the activity and help make some decisions on the direction of the marketing campaigns.

Possessing good communication skills is very important for a successful Account Executive, as they will have clients, suppliers and internal staff to work with to help deliver the client’s campaign objectives. Other key skills include a high sense of accuracy, high social skills and being confident at presenting or in meetings, all key elements of most account related roles in an advertising agency.  An Account Executive would look to develop into an Account Manager after around 2 years in their role, depending on how successful they are.
