The role may specialise in a particular channel like branding, offline or digital, or it may be sector specific like travel, eCommerce or B2B for example. Account Directors usually have at least 3 or 4 years experience in an account-handling role before qualifying for this position.

Account Directors are usually career motivated, having been through the junior stages of managing accounts and reaching this level. If career paths aren’t clear, this may prompt the search for a new role. Or maybe it’s a new sector that an AD is after? Or larger budgets?
