‘Talks about’ – Linkedin have also added a section to add up to 5 hashtags of what you discuss on your profile! Utilise this section and fill it with relevant keywords relating to your field/industry!
Skills & Recommendations – Grab a friend, ex-colleague, manager, client… these sections allow connections to endorse your abilities! – Linkedin allows up to 50 different ‘skills’ so use them up to appear in related matches to your role or ideal role but keep them relevant to your skillset! Recommendations also allows your connections to write up a brief statement about you.
Ensure you’re ‘Open to Work’ is on! LinkedIn allows you to activate this on your profile! This shows up to those outside of your current company/agency! Recruiters tend to only reach out to those who are actively looking for a new job, even if you’re casually looking its always good to be aware of new opportunities!
Activity - Stay active on Linkedin! Linkedin just like any other social media platform has an algorithm – liking, commenting, posting allows you to show up on others home page, you never know who’s screen your profile could show up on.
And last but not least - Keep Networking! Linkedin, I find, is one of the most inclusive social media platforms! Build up your connections, add relevant people within your industry and strike up conversations – add recruiters who hire in your desired field and reach out to see what roles they’re hiring for! (oh, and make sure to follow us of course!)
