Being in the middle of the election period, government ambitions to turn Manchester into a Northern Powerhouse in tech are coming to the forefront, and the digital industry is preparing for a huge boost. As it stands, the sector employs 1.46 million people, and this is set to grow by 90 per cent in the next year. There is an increasing need, therefore, for fresh talent to be brought into the industry.
Here at The Candidate we have expanded significantly over the past few months to move with the evolving landscape of digital, and to fit the recruitment needs of our clients that are growing, too. In March alone, we experienced a 40 per cent boost in revenue compared to the same month last year.
Dividing the business into sectors including retail, eCommerce, and production, means we can now offer a tailored service for different job roles. This has had a positive effect on the business, with revenue, staff numbers, and clients all up since we made the change in 2014.
In particular, our eCommerce department has grown massively since its launch this time last year, and it now represents 40 per cent of our overall revenue. We expect this division of our company to account for over half of our total revenue next year, to correspond with the industry's anticipated growth.
We've also started working with brilliant new clients including Gumtree and JD Williams, which means we have great new roles up for grabs for our candidates.
To handle the additional workload, we've expanded the team and now stand at 13 experienced and passionate recruiters, eight more than 12 months ago.
It's great to see that the digital industry is going from strength to strength, and at The Candidate we're confident that we will continue to see our business expand alongside it throughout 2015.
