Hi Dan, lovely to have you onboard. First of all tell us, what is your background and experience?

I’ve been lucky enough to operate within more than one market in the 4 last years that I’ve been in recruitment. Initially I did 18 months Supply Chain / Trading but soon moved into Technology after knowing how lucrative the market is. Luckily some of my Supply Chain knowledge has helped when recruiting Technical on WMS/ERP. I’ve also had the opportunity to work as internal Talent Acquisition where I was able to witness life on the inside as in inhouse internal recruiter.

What attracted you to The Candidate?

I’d known of the business for a while through mutual network or LinkedIn etc. The brand played a massive part on my attraction initially but after meeting a few of the senior team it was clear they were a commercial recruitment business but still heavily invested in making your (lets be honest) stressful week as fun and enjoyable as possible. Most importantly the attention to mental health. I think after the year we’ve all had, our employers should be committed to our wellbeing and The Candidate offer benefits such as a dedicated personal well-being budget, quarterly well-being days and access to private healthcare support services should you need them.

How was the recruitment process in a pandemic?

The recruitment process was informal but serious if that makes any sense? You can talk about important things casually and still come to a positive outcome.  We were luckily to be towards the end of local covid restrictions so parts of the process could be done remotely while others were face to face in a covid safe environment.

What is your new role at The Candidate and what will you be working on?

I have joined the business as a Senior Technology Recruiter, concentrating specifically on Software Delivery & Product-Led Digital Transformation. I mainly work with businesses that are building some sort of new cutting-edge software working to agile frameworks such as “scrum”.

What changes have you seen in the market in the last 18 months?

The market has had to mature in its ways of working. The fear of not delivering while remote has sort of been extinguished by the results through the pandemic. I think it’s been commercially difficult for most employers but knowing you can trust your workforce is very important. Adding to this, businesses 18 months/2 years ago that we’re offering remote working and using that as a benefit to attract talent have now become the norm. This in turn has made candidate attraction easier and people are considering companies that they wouldn’t have before. In all this could be seen as one of the positives to come from the pandemic.
