Working in an eCommerce Assistant role
Working in an eCommerce Assistant role is an entry-level point for a marketer working in a retail business selling online through digital channels. They will get experience of seeing how the retail process works online and what is required in terms of organising products to sell through digital channels. They will gain an awareness of the website that is its main sales channel and be trained on all aspects of this and the marketing channels that are adopted.
Important skills to be successful in this area include attention to detail, analytical skills, creativity, a great communicator and customer service orientated and be skilled in time management. They will use many ecommerce software platforms, tools that automate the role, and both CRM and CMS systems.
The objective of an eCommerce Assistant will be to progress to an eCommerce Executive and this will normally happen after around 2 years when they have gained enough experience and responsibility. eCommerce Assistants will require good training and leadership in order to remain in their role. Team fit and culture is also important to retain eCommerce Assistants as there are many types and sizes that exist which could offer the lure them to another company.
