Leading Client Services
Reporting to the Managing Director, a Client Services Director typically has responsibility for leading the account management team and supporting Account Directors. They are expected to bring strong knowledge of marketing and/or creative services, alongside the experience needed to guide teams and maintain high standards across client accounts.
The role also has a strong business development focus. Client Services Directors often attend and lead new business pitches, build relationships with prospective clients and strengthen existing client partnerships.
Another key responsibility is reviewing client accounts to ensure they remain commercially sound and profitable. This can include identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen delivery and support wider business growth.
Client Services Director roles are often a natural progression from Senior Account Director or Group Account Director positions and can be found across creative, marketing and digital agencies.
A CSD will usually work closely with the Managing Director and act as a senior representative of the business. From client review meetings to networking and business development activity, they help manage key relationships, resolve issues and identify opportunities for cross-selling. Although they may be less hands-on with day-to-day delivery, they still need a strong understanding of the agency’s services to discuss them confidently with clients.
