Sophie Regan - Candidate Case Study

What attracted you to your new role and what has been the best part?  

I have always had an active interest in the fitness industry, exercising regularly and always keen to try out the latest fitness tech or attend a new class, so when The Candidate put forward the role of Global Marketing Manager at Ultimate Performance, I knew I had to get it.

A few months into the role and one of the best parts has been getting my teeth into learning about the fitness industry not just in the UK but within each of our locations. I then take these insights to ensure that our comms and marketing activities are right for each of the countries we operate in. Also, being a people business, I liaise with people from each of our locations on a daily basis which I love, plus every single day is different.

What were you looking for in a new role?

Primarily I was looking for a client-side role in an industry that I felt passionate about. I had worked in agencies for almost six years and loved the variety that gave me, however I wanted to now contribute to the success of a single business.

What interests you most about your industry?

On the surface, people think that the fitness industry is all about the aesthetics and looking good, but behind all of that you realise that this industry changes people’s lives for the better. Whether that being reversing health issues or improving their quality-of-life day to day, this industry has the ability to make a positive impact in so many ways. Nobody ever regrets investing their time or money in a training programme and it’s being able to creatively convey those positive messages that I love being a part of.
