If you have an interest in Analytics, but no idea where you should start, don’t worry! Leif Radford, our Associate Director and Analytics pro, has complied some of the best tips and advice for starting out in the industry that could help you land your first analytics job!

As Analytics is such a technical sector, you’re going to need to be proactive in gaining some exposure to certain software or developing specific skills in order to succeed, which can feel a little daunting especially if you don’t have a background of a mathematics-based degree or qualification. But never fear – once you know where to start, pursuing your career in Analytics is definitely achievable!

Networking and Events

This is an important part of getting started in the industry that can’t be overlooked. By joining in with events and getting immersed into the community, you’ll get a real feel for the type of work you might be doing, who you could be working with, and what companies might hire you! Even though a lot of physical events can’t take place at the moment, there are plenty of online workshops and presentations to get involved with. For a more thorough round-up of great networking resources and Analytics events, take a read of our blog - Find Your Tribe – Analytics Events, Communities, and Resources.

Also, LinkedIn is a great way to keep up to date with the industry and connect to the Analytics community. For some helpful tips on how to get the best out of LinkedIn, you can read our blog here! (and make sure to give us a follow too!)
