What is it?
The Social Media Surgery is an informal drop-in session where
experts are on hand to provide tips and practical advice about how
social media could help your organisation and how to make the best
out of social media to boost your business prospects.

Anyone from the voluntary and community sector can come and pick
the brains of our 'surgeons' (helpful volunteers who understand the
world of Twitter, Facebook and the rest).
Whether you're baffled by Facebook, can't work out what
everyone's Twittering about, or have fallen off a blog, there'll be
someone at the Social Media Surgery who can explain everything!
There will be experts present to show you how to get started,
get yourself out of those sticky situations, or just simply help
you think through why you might use any of these social media tools
in the first place, to assist your organisation.
The BBC is kindly hosting the event. BBC Outreach volunteers are
facilitating the event, whom is a small team within the Operations
Division of the BBC that build links with the community. (Other

It's completely free, there's tea and coffee on tap! The surgery
is creative atmosphere where you can have a conversation rather
than being stuck in a classroom.
As all of the social media surgeons are volunteers giving up
their time for nothing, most are unable to offer further unpaid
support outside of the surgeries.
BUT, that's exactly why the surgeries are held every month!
You're most welcome to revisit the surgery, as often as you need to
- or to bring along colleagues if you need to spread the social
media goodness around your organisation...
