Our Senior Recruitment Consultant, Ceri Whitney, works on digital contract roles here at The Candidate. So that you can get to know her a little better, we asked her all about specialising in all things contract, workplace culture, and bringing her dogs to work!

When it comes to contract recruitment, Ceri explains that it not only allows businesses to access the best talent available, but it also allows them to find candidates quickly, significantly shortening the typical recruitment process. Contractors work on either an hourly or daily rate, or even on a fixed term contract with a pro rata salary. For contractors, working on a freelance basis allows them to work on varied and exciting projects, building up an impressive portfolio!

Lovely to have you onboard! First of all tell us, what is your background and experience?

So, I have worked in recruitment for seven years where I have worked within both the commercial sector and financial services, working my way up from a Recruitment Administrator to a Recruitment Consultant. For almost the past four years I ran a successful temporary desk and provided a service to all levels of clientele. I am very talkative so of course recruitment is definitely one of the best industries for me to be in.

What attracted you to The Candidate before you started? (Has it lived up to your expectations?)

I had got to the stage in my recruitment career where I was getting bored of the same tedious roles that I was recruiting for day in and day out. I spoke with a Rec2Rec and gave them three points that I wanted in my next role… and well The Candidate has definitely exceeded in all of those expectations. I really like the fact that everyone works so closely together! I also wanted to further my career and expand my sector knowledge as a Senior Recruitment Consultant.

What is your role at The Candidate and what type of things do you work on?

I am a Senior Recruitment Consultant and I solely focus on contract positions which could stem from one day to a year or even longer. I typically recruit for roles of all levels that are associated to: PPC, SEO, Paid Search, Marketing Managers, Account Managers etc. Although I predominantly handle candidates who are looking for projects based on a day rate, I do also recruit for fixed-term contracts.

What is the culture like?

The culture is great, I’ve found that everyone has been so welcoming and supportive. Unlike some cut-throat agencies you hear about we operate on the basis that as long as “The Candidate” places the role that’s all that matters.

What is the best thing about working at The Candidate?

The social environment, even from little things like lunches together, drinks after work, team events and the overall positive energy in the office… plus, I also love the fact that I can bring my pups to work!
