The Candidate Marketing Recruitment Agency based in Manchester has grown it’s team to 22 people, the largest since their launch in 2012. The agency continues to excel in providing the most tailored digital, creative and marketing professionals for its clients that range from start-ups through to major blue chip companies. One of the secrets of their success has been the careful curation of an informed team of consultants that come from both the marketing industry and recruitment industries. In the current quarter alone it has attracted 5 new consultants, the most recent being Christian Bloor as Senior Brand & Offline Recruitment Consultant, who comes with 6 years’ experience in recruitment. With him he brings recruitment experience across a varied, rich spectrum from graduates, to finance and is passionate about connecting excellent candidates with valued clients. We asked Christian for his thoughts on joining The Candidate and his insight into the recruitment industry in the Northwest of England.

What was important to you in your new career search and how does this opportunity fulfil it?
A key feature was to join a company where I would feel valued, in essence, this reverts to my perspective above on the interview process. In conjunction with the above I wanted to join an open and honest company, internally and externally that operates with integrity. I have felt very welcome since joining the company across all teams, which although separate interact a lot together. Again from the company’s reputation, it is clear their clients and candidates value the Consultants integrity.

What are your observations and commentary on the industry or market at present?
Recruitment as an industry has developed significantly in recent years, more and more agencies are appearing and some becoming complacent. I believe relationships are therefore crucial, importantly with both clients and candidates; to ensure you are thorough in your representation of the role as well as the business, and for the latter, ensuring you are using information correctly and briefing transparently. This filters into GDPR which has impacted the industry. Importantly recruitment companies need to be systematic in a sense to ultimately ensure clients and candidates are protected. I have lived in Manchester for the past ten years, recruiting in the region for over six years and the economy is growing significantly, meaning more jobs and more people that are attracted to the city.
