The Candidate are recruiting for a Test Engineer to join a delivery focused Testing team in the heart of Manchester. As our client rapidly progress through their journey of creating the next-generation platform for online gambling which sets the user at the heart of all they do. Focusing on technical quality, they are an advanced tech unit who have a core passion for implementing the most modern methodologies, software, tools and tech.

As the Test Engineer, you will be joining a modern testing environment which boasts an array of testing projects ranging from Manual to Automation. Taking ownership of the quality of the projects, you will work closely with the Test lead and Senior Testers to define the test strategy, and plan for execution of the testing projects. This role will involve both manual and automation testing with career progression opportunities into specialisms in either, from a technical stance, the platform is built using the Microsoft stack (.net core) with modules built using JavaScript frameworks (React & Node). Ideally you will have technical knowledge across the full software development lifecycle to understand the wider testing remit but the core role revolves around hands on testing.

The entire business works under a hybrid model with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days remotely (or from home!).

Key Responsibilities of the Test Engineer:

  • Reviewing & analysing requirement documents ensuring both business and technical requirements are fully understood
  • Producing test documentation (test plans and test scripts) to agreed standards
  • Conducting quality testing on projects and raising issues to the agreed processes and timescales
  • Identifying and carrying out regression testing
  • Reporting defects accurately and managing through to successful resolution via Jira
  • Maintaining and creating product knowledge documentation

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Commercially experienced in software testing environments with a core focus on testing web and mobile applications
  • Able to prepare test documentation such as a test plan, test scripts, test strategies, defect reports and more
  • Being knowledgeable across the wider software development life cycle is a bonus but an overall passion for being involved in a cutting-edge technical environment is essential.
