The Candidate Ltd

The Candidate are delighted to be recruiting for a Technical Architect to join an innovative business with global plans to revitalise the online gambling industry. Our client is a well-recognised organisation who have had in excess of £30 million invested to help them create their vision. Having partnered with leading organisations across the UK, they are undergoing an exciting period of growth and are now searching for a Technical Architect to help realise their platforms potential.

As the Technical Architect, you’ll be joining a sociable and friendly team of 6 Technical Architects in an environment in a highly technical and complex environment. From a development stance, the Technical Architect will have a split responsibility between being hands on and hands off, providing a strategic overview for the engineering team and enabling the capabilities to expand the platform into a robust and scalable system. Since the platform will integrate into a variety of external sources, you should understand the complexity of the system and understand how to limit issues should there be occasions where the platform goes wrong!

This role is ideal for an experienced Technical Architect who can bring a wealth of experience and knowhow to their team. If you have a background in software engineering, either from a .Net or Java background, you’ll quickly be able to integrate into the technical environment. From a wider technical point, the engineering team have built the existing platform using .Net with RabbitMQ, WebAPI and WCF to connect services with MySQL & MongoDB to manage data. JavaScript frameworks such as React & Node are utilised across the full stack. The platform is predominantly hosted using AWS, with some on-premise infrastructure using VMWare, with Kubernetes and Docker used for containerisation. The Technical Architect will not be hands on across the full stack but it’d be ideal if you had some understanding of the engineering philosophy whilst getting stuck into building a robust and scalable architectural system.

At the moment, the team are working entirely remote but plan to return to a part office / part remote working arrangement, with 2 days per week in the Manchester City Centre office. One of these days will be spent working directly with the wider architecture team with the other day working directly within your core business team. All other days can be worked remotely, or in the office if you’d prefer!

Key Responsibilities of the Technical Architect:

  • Key figure in the delivery of an enterprise level solution whilst ensuring that the system architecture is both robust and scalable.
  • Work across a varied tech stack to provide high level designs for architectural processes.
  • Progress into a leadership role in the core business teams as you use your engineering background and knowledge to drive performance.
  • Creative innovative solutions to a variety of complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to the future state architecture planning, providing a clear vision of the platform evolution whilst you provide guidance to the hands on engineers to operate in a secure, robust, realistic and scalable methodology.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven commercial experience in a Technical Architecture role being responsible for the successful delivery of a robust technical infrastructure.
  • Architectural knowledge of systems built using the Microsoft stack. Any exposure into the wider technology stack would be a bonus but the priority for this role is to provide a wealth of architectural level knowledge. If you have a background in another language, such as Java, we’d love to speak to you.
  • Naturally team driven and able to understand the most modern methodologies which can create an impact onto the platform process and release.
  • Any exposure to AWS (Cloud Infrastructure) & DevOps is a bonus but not necessary to be successful as there are wider teams with core specialisms into cloud tech.
  • It’d be great if you had previous experience in the gambling industry, or any other highly regulated industry, but applicants across all backgrounds are encouraged!

What’s In It For You:

  • Salary Up To £80,000
  • Part remote working with only 2 days per week needed in the Manchester City Centre office.
  • Great benefits package including an annual bonus, 25 days annual leave, flexible working, staff discounts, team socials, healthcare & much more.
  • Autonomy to introduce new technologies and methodologies as you see fit
  • Join a highly secure organisation with the opportunity to make your stamp on a platform which will change an industry on a global scale
