Joining the development team as the Software Engineer, you’ll be a pivotal part of the technical team as you delve into the back-end of the greenfield product roadmap. Tackling the transition into a Node.js back end, the Software Engineer will work closely with the Head of Development & senior development team to create new product and features to a platform which is set to revolutionise the way young students embark on their careers. From a technical stance, our client’s platform is built in a highly modern & exciting stack. Regarding their hands-on coding preferences, the team revolves around the full JavaScript stack with React.js implemented on the front end with Node.js & Nest.js on the back end for server-side and API routing. Being heavily reliant upon cloud hosting for their infrastructure, the successful candidate will delve into all things AWS with Kubernetes & Docker.

In terms of working arrangements, the team is built on flexibility and can make the role work around your needs. The ideal situation is to work under a hybrid model of remote & office work – exactly how many days this looks like on either side depends on your personal circumstances. Most of the teamwork a day or two per week out of their Liverpool office with the rest remote, but if you need to be more flexible than this, the team can work with you.

Key Responsibilities of the Software Engineer:

  • Hands on greenfield back end development focusing on Node.js as a JavaScript framework
  • Contribute towards the cloud hosting & CICD projects across the product roadmap as you support on ensuring their AWS architecture is safe & scalable.
  • Support the wider technical function (PO / QA / PM) across the business in establishing realistic expectations for the product roadmap, whilst providing technical updates to project stakeholders.
  • Continually stay up to date with modern technologies, methodologies and workflow techniques with a keen eye on continually improving the technical divisions approach.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in a modern software development environment where you have been responsible for the delivery of innovative solutions.
  • Passionate about JavaScript with excellent knowledge across Node.js as a back end framework
  • Enjoys being within a start-up / scale-up environment where you have the technical autonomy and freedom to be the decision maker for significant changes.
  • Built platforms hosted in AWS – ideally with wider experience using Kubernetes & Docker
  • Commercial experience building CI/CD pipeline from scratch using automation tools a bonus but it’s essential you have wider knowledge of operating a CICD pipeline for continuous release.
