Site Reliability Engineer – Up To £80,000 – Manchester 

Here at The Candidate, we are partnered with a digital leader based in Manchester City Centre who are searching for a SRE Engineer to join their highly talented team. With partnerships established with leaders across the entirety of the gambling industry, our client is building a world-class product aimed at disrupting global markets. As the Site Reliability Engineer, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team to ensure that all systems and functionality meets the increasing demand for reliability, performance, and resilience.

Forming part of the SRE team, which sits in a wider development team covering; product teams, testing, DevOps & more, the SRE Engineer will work across the organisation to assure that the greenfield platform development is capable of sustaining and scaling the demand needed. Working directly alongside senior leadership teams from the product, engineering & QA teams, the SRE Engineer will embody all things engineering whilst demonstrating the importance of performance & reliability with a keen eye on sustainable development.

Currently, the business is working on a fully remote basis but do plan to return to a predominantly office-based environment. Boasting a highly collaborative environment, the SRE Engineer will ideally be within commutable distance to their Manchester City Centre office.

Tech Stack: 

• Platform tech stack: .Net Core / React / Node
• Operational monitoring tools: ELK, SOnarQube, Grafana
• Performance testing: JMeter
• Virtualised infrastructure & containerisation
• Databases: MySQL, MariaDB, Microsoft SQL
• Automational tools: Ansible, Terraform
• Cloud Tech: AWS (ideal) but knowledge of other platforms such as Azure is acceptable

Key Responsibilities of the DevOps Engineer:

• Embody all things sustainability, reliability & performance whilst joining a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
• Proactively look for improvements to the system
• Analysing and measuring key functionality metrics to identify potential system issues.
• Data driven approach whilst encouraging engineers of all levels to create fluent code which has performance and reliability at heart.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Commercial experience focusing on site reliability engineering in order to create scalable solutions.
• Able to work in a fast paced environment whilst collaborating with other teams.
• Detailed understanding of networking concepts, tech & protocols including IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP & DNS
• Confident with operational monitoring & dashboarding tools
• Led on the management and actioning of performance testing tools such as JMeter
• Previous commercial experience working in an AWS environment (similar cloud tech is fine but must have knowledge in AWS environments)
