With offices in Cheshire and Manchester, our client is certainly a force to be reckoned with! They have built themselves an impeccable reputation within the media industry and now have a multi-million-pound turnover. As they continue to grow, the company is now looking to add fresh talent and a new lease of life to the business by hiring a highly experienced Managing Director who will support them with their future growth.

With a specific focus on business development, the Managing Director will need to demonstrate extensive experience in the development of new products, new client relationships and new markets. The successful candidate will also be fully accountable for the financial performance of the company and will ultimately be working with the finance team in order to present all financial, strategic and operational predictions to the parent company board. Our client is on the hunt for an individual with gravitas combined with the ability to confidently interact with key stakeholders. An individual with a proactive attitude and exceptional knowledge of digital and print media will thrive within this fantastic role.

The Key Responsibilities of the Managing Director:

  • Plan, develop and implement the organisations’ business strategy and prepare detailed plans to support future growth.
  • Optimise current client relationships whilst building strong relationships with new clients.
  • Oversee all business development and new product development activities whilst managing and mentoring a fast-growing team of 40 people.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Board Members to recommend and establish strategies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest industry trends and changes and implement them accordingly.
  • On a regular basis, present all financial and strategic performances to the PLC board and represent the company at external events.
  • Take full responsibility for the business’ financial performance as well as taking ownership for the P&L.
  • Constantly aim to develop and innovate the business’ operations as the sales divisions continue to grow.

The Key Skills and Attributes Required:

  • A highly skilled and experienced Managing Director with a proven track record of delivering consistent growth.
  • Previous experience identifying new business opportunities, from planning to successful delivery.
  • A strong commercial acumen combined with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Expert knowledge of the digital media industry.
  • Extensive experience managing a P&L as well as working in a sales-led environment.
  • Fantastic leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential for the role.
  • A hands-on self-starter who’s capable of making business-critical decisions.
  • Comfortable prioritising work in order to achieve objectives whilst working in a fast-paced environment.
  • An accomplished networker with the ability to operate at a high strategic level.
