Head of Social and Content – Challenger Brand - Manchester - Up to £50k

The role is a new hire for the business so there’s massive scope for you to take the reins and run with things. Reporting in to the CMO (the 1st member of staff I placed) you will have complete ownership of social and content. They’re looking for someone ambitious, creative, and tenacious. From day one you’ll be creating and implementing the strategy, with the help of the (content, social and marketing execs) to drive the brand forward, showcasing them as the financial disruptor that they are. The content needs to be fresh, engaging, and challenge preconceptions about the industry – think Monzo, Deliveroo, Oatly, kind of vibes!

What will this role be responsible for?

  • Strategy and planning across social media, blog content and influencer relationships
  • Ensuring ongoing engaging social content across all channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) for the family of brands with the support of a direct report and marketing apprentice
  • Maintaining a continuous focus on disruption, creativity and articulation of our brand pillars
  • Scoping out new channel opportunities and selecting and launching on appropriate channels
  • Collaborating with marketing team to maximise product and feature launches and the value of PR and media activity through social media
  • Briefing-in and working with in-house designers to produce assets
  • Ensuring a consistent program of blog content and briefing to external/internal copywriters
  • Working to community growth and engagement KPIs
  • Analysis and reporting on social and content activity including ongoing reviews/audits
  • Establishing a focus of testing and learning
  • Collaborating with compliance to ensure all marketing promotions meet FCA guidelines
  • Ensuring all external comms meet visual and tone-of-voice guidelines
  • Working with external agencies (PR, media) where appropriate
  • Working with and reporting back to senior management stakeholders
  • Experimenting, being creative and having fun!

About you:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a social media and content role with at least 2 in a senior role
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • A purpose driven individual, excited about being a consumer champion and making financial advice accessible and affordable to everyone
  • A bold, creative and experimental thinker with a self-starter mentality
  • Someone who able to hit the ground running and thrives on the reactive and fast-paced nature of social media
  • Ambition
  • Analytical and outcome-focused
  • Someone with their finger on the pulse with new social media channels and trends
  • Experience across a number of channels including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
  • Analysis and reporting skills
  • Influencer collaboration and management experience
  • Proven record of fast-growth of social communities
  • Experience working at a challenger/disrupter brand or a growth-phase business would be a huge bonus
  • B2C experience is essential, both B2C and B2B is preferred
