Reporting to the Buying Director, you will be responsible for managing the fragrance and cosmetics category at a top brand and you will be responsible for strategy development and implementation across two of their largest categories. You will be responsible for the continual growth, change and sales and profit delivery of these categories.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • P&L responsibility and management across the categories
  • Setting the buying strategy within these categories
  • Stakeholder management and influence to ensure that the buying strategy is understood throughout the business
  • Regular review of brand portfolio and supplier base across both range reviews and supplier KPIs
  • Reviewing and developing processes and ways of working to optimise their partnership processes both in the UK & through strategic territories
  • Coaching and developing team members to reach their full potential within the business
  • Reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of joint business plans, taking appropriate action where necessary
  • Developing and building supplier relationships at senior levels

Key KPI’s:

  • Responsibility for building strength in key strategic brand relationships while delivering sales & profit growth
  • Strategy development and implementation across the two categories
  • Portfolio review within these categories
  • Brands Sales Growth Target(s) - achieving sales growth in line if not above of budget as defined with your manager.
  • Brands Gross Margin Target(s) - achieving sales growth at an agreed margin rate as defined with your manager
  • Securing commercial terms improvement across margin, payment terms, marketing investment and purchasing retro’s as aligned upon with your manager.
  • Availability & fulfilment actuals and set improvements in these actuals on a quarterly basis as defined with your manager
  • Process implementation and improvement to improve ways of working


  • Experienced head of buying or senior buyer within the beauty industry
  • Experience in buying Fragrance is a MUST
  • Strong track record of strategy creation, management and delivery
  • Commercially focused
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior members in the team, ensuring their professional development
  • Experience in managing and partnering with brands spanning a range of sizes
