Growth Director – London - £Competitive+Bonus+Shares

London/Manchester with a hybrid work model offered.

Our client is looking for an experienced new business professional with a proven track record of delivering growth within a large agency. The right person for the job should be highly commercial, an excellent relationship builder, a team motivator, and a strong project manager to nurture and get the best from their people.

This is a critical role for the agency at an exciting time in its growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and as part of the senior leadership team, this person will be the driving force behind all new business, with a focus on the pitch process, stakeholder management, successful client onboarding, commercial forecasting, CRM, and pipeline management. They will also be part of a wider growth community, with a dotted line into the group CMO and a dual remit focused on building the group offering and nurturing cross-sell opportunities.

The ultimate objective is to enhance the agency’s new business offering, continuously drive revenue growth, and ensure all new clients are set up for long-term success. The candidate should be prepared to operate independently, have a strategic approach but also not afraid to roll up their sleeves and be hands on when needed. 

Key responsibilities

New Business:

  • Serve as the point of contact for all new business inbound inquiries, qualifying and responding to relevant opportunities, and supporting them through every stage of the pitch process.
  • Lead, and effectively project manage all new business pitches, from small project briefs to large global accounts.
  • Upskill the wider agency in pitch best practices and collaborate with the wider company to drive efficiencies in the pitch process, reporting, and cross-selling.
  • Support the client services team in driving onboarding excellence and setting new client partnerships up for long-term success.
  • Work closely with the CMO and marketing team to action relevant leads from outbound marketing activity into live pitch opportunities.
  • Attend internal and wider industry events to identify and develop potential future clients.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Travel both across the UK and globally to meet and prospects. 

Commercial Management:

  • Own and meticulously update the CRM, HubSpot, with all new business activity.
  • Keep pipeline and prospecting dashboards up to date and report regularly to the board.
  • Work closely with the Financial Director to ensure the new business pipeline is accurately reflected in commercial forecasting.
  • Work with the Client Services Director to effectively and competitively price new business proposals.

Growth Strategy:

  • Support the leadership team and group CMO in developing the business proposition and growth strategies that facilitate the expansion of capabilities, geographic reach, and product/service offerings.


  • Extensive experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in an agency environment, with 3+ years in a senior leadership/management role in an agency of 70+ headcount.
  • Experience converting pitches across a full spectrum of client industry verticals.
  • Strong negotiator with excellent stakeholder management skills (both internally and externally).
  • Proven track record of effectively pricing creative campaigns, with a clear understanding of the wider social and influencer marketing landscape.
  • Experience managing a CRM (HubSpot).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with remote and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in new business pitch management and growth strategy. Proven ability to deliver and convert client engagements over 6-7 figures in value.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to contribute to business planning and expansion.
  • Proficient in problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
