As our client embarks on the next fast growth phase delivering to an ambitious 5-year plan, investment into proprietary data solutions is key to placing the customers’ experience and fast, scalable growth at the heart of their business. It follows naturally to say that the recruitment of a top-class candidate for this role is super high on their agenda. Reporting into the CTO and working closely with the CEO, CMO and CFO you’ll have a combined 60+ years of digital retail & operational experience supporting your performance and growth over the years to come. You’ll take the lead in the management and mining of their Data Analytics Warehouse (DAW) solution, building out game changing automated data, producing critical reports, mining data for trends, patterns and opportunities for their business to grow. You’ll have the chance to make this area your own, building from a significant, recent investment in to their Marketing and their Operational DAW and taking things to the next level when it comes to how the business creates, communicates and consumes data.

Put clearly, they are on a mission to discover talent who can come into their team and deliver from day one. They are looking to enhance their internal expertise and the speed of execution. This is a new role, never available before and will play a key and prominent part in delivering to plan

The role:

This is a newly formed role within the business and has been created for three primary reasons:

  • To put data at the heart of the decision-making process, driving focus, priorities & pace
  • To use data to better understand and care for their customers
  • To create proprietary data solutions that provide a single ‘truth’ across the business

Immediate responsibilities:

  • Phase 2 development of their Data Analytics Warehouse, implementing new automations using python, SQL and their cloud platform
  • Development of standardised dynamic and static reports for all areas of the business
  • Establish a reporting benchmark and process across the business
  • Get under the hood of marketing, ops, tech to understand current reporting needs & opportunities
  • Align the business using cross functional reports that tie in certain cause and effect elements critical to scaling
  • Work with the CTO to design, develop and enhance data capture and reporting tools
  • Support the CTO on the generation and maintenance of meaningful management information across every level of the business

Role outline:

  • Full, sole management of their Data Analytics Warehouse, all automated reports and back end data lake
  • Engineering and development of their DAW maintaining health and building for the future
  • You’ll drive performance through analysing in and cross functional data and presenting opportunities
  • Undertaking data analysis within assigned projects
  • Delivering data solutions and data lifecycles
  • Collecting, extracting and analysing data from complex sources
  • Managing APIs from health and integration points of view
  • Analysing and providing data on all key operational performance, suggesting improvements and changes where necessary 

About you:

  • Excellent analytical skills, experience in analysing data and drawing conclusions
  • Experience working in an Ecommerce environment
  • Experience working in a retail/commercial environment
  • Experience working with Google Cloud Platform: BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions/Cloud Run/Cloud Build and Pub/Sub.
  • Experience with digital analytics tools: Google Analytics
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Google Data Studio and Tableau
  • Proficient in R or Python for ETL/ELT, data analysis and ideally ML/data science
  • Proficient in SQL including experience with BigQuery Standard SQL syntax, standard querying, advanced techniques including window functions, arrays, Data Definition Language, Data Manipulation Language and User Defined Functions.
  • Proficient in the management of APIs
