In my early twenties I chose the path of a rewarding career in
the recruitment industry and joined RK Accountancy, one of the
North West's fastest growing financial recruitment companies. I
progressed from Trainee Consultant to Branch Manager within 18
months which gave me the foundation and understanding of how to run
a successful recruitment business. Heading up its
flagship branch in Manchester city centre, I successfully led it to
an annual turnover of just short of £1,000,000 consistently for a 6
year period. I had the opportunity to relocate to Birmingham to
launch and develop its new city centre branches, ensuring it was
done my way. Through hard work and determination to become a major
player in this market, we were soon building our reputation with
candidates and clients alike.
I decided to relocate back to Manchester after a year in
Birmingham after I had made my mark and was attracted to the
challenge of working for Primetime Recruitment and having the
responsibility of launching their new finance division. This gave
me the unique experience of launching a brand that was known
predominantly for high street recruitment and taking it into a
highly competitive specialised market. I successfully grew this
revenue stream, securing major clients such as Carphone Warehouse
who we successfully placed a significant amount of
After two fantastic years, I was headhunted by CIPFA Recruitment
services. I accepted the challenge to do the same for this
125 year old institute; develop and grow a revenue stream in the
North of the UK. This was a great challenge and gave me extra
insight into developing a recruitment business in a shrinking and
challenging market- public sector interim recruitment. It was
within this brand that I realised that I wanted to utilise my
skill-set and launch The Candidate.
I co-founded The Candidate with our focus to be the attraction
and representation of the industry's leading candidates. We are
looking to grow our business by supporting this ever evolving
industry. By partnering with universities and relocation companies
we aim to support the market by adding extra resource from grass
roots and attracting talent to the North West.
Throughout my career my mantra has been 'the candidate is key',
and by standing by this belief it has ensured that I have been
successful in each business that I have worked in.
Hence why I believe my recruitment knowledge, coupled with
Colin's media industry background, will allow us to reach our goal
of becoming the North West's leading media/marketing recruitment
agency. Our nomination for Best Newcomer in this year's MARA
awards indicates great things to come!
