We have a new member of our growing agency! It's Arun Dey, who has a strong background in Marketing, IT and HR recruitment, who is now part of our rapidly emerging Technology Recruitment Team. His strength lies within the candidate side of recruitment and he is looking forward to helping candidates find their dream job in the Technology & IT industry! 

 Arun, can you tell us more about your background
Originally my career began within a sales environment however after 3 years', I decided that it was time for a complete change of scenery, so I made the transfer from that industry to the recruitment industry, in the hope of a new adventure. Whilst working as a recruitment consultant in my previous job, I mainly focused on finding suitable candidates for roles in the HR, Marketing and IT departments of the NHS. After gaining vital experience of working within the sector, I wanted to join a successful recruitment agency, where I could enhance my skills and here I am at The Candidate!

Why did you choose to go into recruitment?
I already knew a few people who were working in the industry, so it's fair to say that I had a bit of knowledge about the role. I found the job very interesting as I realised that it would play to my strengths! If you're going to be a successful recruitment consultant, it's vital that you have excellent time management and customer service skills, as you're working with tight deadlines and talking to a variety of people every day. I believe that I have a knack for matching the right person to their dream job and these skills have been derived from my sales background and are highly useful for my future career in recruitment. It's a great feeling that I finally found a job, which is fun and I'm good at!

What do you think you can do for Technology candidates on the market?
For me, it's all about finding people a job which they want and deserve. I've found mine, now it's their chance to find theirs. A lot of people don't know what jobs are available on the market, so I'd like to educate our candidates on the variety of industries and companies which would be happy to utilise their skill sets! When I'm matching candidates to jobs, I always aim to place someone in a role in which I feel they will thrive and progress, as well as a company they will fit into because ultimately they need to be happy to go to work every day!

 What are you always looking for in a candidate?
When looking at our candidate pool, it's always refreshing to find someone who knows what they want and have the right skills for it. It's also great to see those candidates that want to change jobs for the right reasons, like taking their next career move or enhancing their skills. Obviously having the desired abilities and experience within the technology industry is fundamental when applying for new roles. But I think, if the candidate wants to add value to a company, then they're great for the job.

Why did you want to work for The Candidate?
A friend of mine knew the Managing Partner, Brian Matthews, and once I found out that they were hiring; I knew that it was a company that I definitely wanted to work for! They are very candidate focused, which is exactly what I was looking for, as I wanted to use my skills to help others and being here allows me to do that. The environment and atmosphere in the office are nothing like I have experienced before! Everyone in the team has been so welcoming and there's always something exciting going on.

It didn’t take long to build rapport with Laura, as her excellent communication skills shone through from the start. She placed me in my most recent position and was very thorough in liaising between myself and my prospective employer at the time - an often understated skill.
