How online businesses can stay on top of digital trends

Online business is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK. However, one of the problems facing ecommerce organisations is a high staff attrition rate within in-house digital marketing teams.

Our latest report, detailing the challenges that in-house digital recruiters face, found that one of the main reasons for a high turnover of digital marketing staff is a frustration at the 'slow to adapt' nature of the business - in comparison to marketing and digital agencies which are perceived to be more footloose.


There is still a perception within the digital industry that working in an agency is the fastest way to progress and learn new skills, and this is perhaps why many talented digital marketers do not want to leave a consultancy business for an in-house position.


The research we conducted found that many online businesses (71%) believe that they are up-to-date with the latest digital trends. However, feedback from the candidate marketplace shows that many digital professionals (87%) do not agree that most businesses are fully up to date with evolving developments, or have an up-to-date understanding of the different strands in digital marketing. Businesses are missing a trick, and this can be a problem when attracting and retaining the best talent.


It is imperative that online businesses stay on top of digital trends, and entice the very best of digital marketing talent to work within their business.
